Last year, on a trip to Ladakh, we spent time in the Changthang region. It's one of the harshest environments in the world, and the wool supply chain here is fragile, slowly diminishing. Only a handful of herder families remain, most have moved to the cities.

Since the last season, we have become more closely acquainted with natural dyeing by travelling across the country and practising it ourselves for about one and a half years. In the process, we found a book from the Calico Museum in Ahmedabad, published in 1987, which documents how natural dyeing has been practised in different regions of India, with exact, specific ratios that we sometimes refer to alongside what dyers show us in person.
